Photoshop Step-By-Step Guide

Removing the background from an image:

- The image needs to have a transparent background in order to be able to edit the image properly so first make a new transparent template of your chosen size.
- Go to file, open, and then open your chosen image in photoshop.
- Click and drag that image onto the transparent template background.
- This is where it becomes your choice of tool; you may use the magic wand tool in order to select parts of the image that are the same colour, or use the different types of lasso tools (eg. the magnetic lasso tool, which is used around outside of the image you want to keep)
- After each small section is selected, then you just press the backspace bar and that part of the background in the image is removed.

Creating a path of a shape and turning it into a custom shape:

- Go to the pen tool, which is on the far left side where the tools are. (looks like a little fountain pen)
-Then when this is selected you can draw around the part of the image you want to be selected, or free hand draw the image you want to
-Press control and left click the mouse to bring up the options in order to create the image.
- Then click define custom shape and name the shape you have just created.
-If you then click on the custom shape tool and look at all the custom shapes, your newly created shape should be amongst them.
